Sunday Funday

Great Progress Today!

Kelly Family 2012
Great news; William and Lexi did great without their bili lights over night.  This means they get to wear clothes and sleep while swaddled, which makes them much happier.  Also, they were moved to the same room overnight, which made the picture above possible!  It's nice to visit them both in the same place.  At 1:00 today, William's oxygen was removed and he hasn't needed it since--big news!  He also might move to a regular crib tomorrow as he doesn't need temperature regulation (Lexi shouldn't be too far behind).  Finally, both babies have now started breast or bottle feeding a number of their feedings rather than taking the milk through their nose tubes.  It's quite an accomplishment for 34-weekers to coordinate sucking, swallowing and breathing at the same time, but they have it down!

BIG SHOUT OUT to Lele (Chase's Mom's preferred title) for visiting William and Alexis during afternoon care hours yesterday and today so we could run errands and take a break from the NICU while knowing the babies were in great hands.  Leigh Ann fed William his first bottle!  Today, she sang him some Christmas Carols and told him about Holter.  Thank you Lele!

Now for the pictures!

  1. Hi all....Fun to follow progress with the blog. We all know that the hospital environment is what William and Alexis need at this point, but it probably wears on you and it will be nice to have them home eventually.

    Love,

Grandpa Bill (the name has such family relevance, I think I'll have to assume it)
